Even if the level of education in your current school or university is excellent, it still cannot be compared to the educational experience a student will have while studying abroad in Asia.
A study in the South Korean program is fun but a great experience. So many students dream of leaving the country, but an Asian study abroad is your chance to achieve it. However, these programs are not limited to flying and arriving. Here are some things to keep in mind before registering to study abroad in Hong Kong;

1. Your visas, passports and official documentation

It does not matter if you are part of a study abroad in Asia or if you sign up for a school-sponsored exchange program, you need a valid passport and specific documents that are required for certain countries. I recommend visiting the travel portal of the US Department of Foreign Affairs for a list of documents you need to study abroad in Asia. It is a good idea to apply for a visa as soon as possible if you do not have one yet.

2. Currency rate

It doesn’t matter where you study abroad in Asia. You know better what kind of money you need. Look up the exchange rate for that specific country and try to get a basic understanding of what their currencies are worth compared to the US dollar.

3. Stay safe

View the US Department of Foreign Affairs travels alerts list for Americans abroad. It provides information about potential threats to Americans abroad. Indeed, you do not have to worry if you are studying abroad in Hong Kong, but you still do not want to walk in or near an unsafe area. My rule of thumb is to avoid political demonstrations while studying abroad in Asia, even if your inner activist hurts.

4. Housing arrangement

Studying abroad takes up a lot of your free time with lessons or a fun night out in the city, but you’ll still have to sleep somewhere at night. Some schools offer living rooms but note their rules and restrictions. In some cases, you stay with a host family. Choose a dictionary and maybe learn some of their basic phrases and sayings before you study in South Korea.

5. Stay in touch with family

To stay in touch with family after travelling, you have to check online for international mobile phones and plans. Also, ensure the mobile phone can be used abroad, and the charges per call rate.
