Halfords or Halfords Group Plc (LSE: HFD), as it is appropriately called, is selling bicycles, SatNavs, auto parts and accessories in the UK and Ireland. It was located in Poland and the Czech Republic but announced the closure of these stores early last year.
The company, which is the first call port for most people looking for a new car or bike accessory, was founded in 1892 by Frederick Rushbrook in Birmingham and was originally a black wholesaler. Ten years later, the store moved to Halford Street in Leicester, gave the company its name, and started selling bikes, which is an essential part of its core business.
Last year, Halfords had 462 stores that collectively produced sales of £ 810 million and gross profit of £ 104 million (an impressive 12.8%).
